Tradition and Tranquility: A Journey Through Japan

Day 1–4 – Tokyo

Begin your adventure in Japan’s vibrant capital, where centuries of history meet cutting-edge design. Visit Meiji Shrine, a serene oasis in the heart of the city, and explore Harajuku and Omotesando; districts alive with fashion, creativity, and modern architecture. Discover the old-world charm of Tokyo’s shitamachi neighborhoods such as Asakusa and Kappabashi, and explore the city on two wheels, cycling through Ginza, Ryogoku, and Hibiya Park. Evenings invite quiet reflection, rooftop dining, or a stroll beneath Tokyo’s glittering skyline.

Day 5 – Shuzenji

Travel by bullet train to the tranquil hot spring town of Shuzenji. Stay in a historic ryokan, a traditional inn surrounded by gardens and mountains, where tatami rooms, hot baths, and kaiseki dining reflect Japan’s spirit of understated hospitality.

Day 6–9 – Kyoto

Journey to Kyoto, the cultural heart of Japan. Visit Kinkakuji, the Golden Pavilion, and cycle past Zen gardens, bamboo forests, and ancient bridges. Experience a private geisha dinner in the historic Gion district; an evening steeped in grace, music, and conversation. Spend a day exploring Seiryuden Temple, Nanzen-ji, and Murin-an Garden before taking part in a traditional tea ceremony led by masters of the Omotesenke school. Kyoto’s blend of elegance, artistry, and ritual reveals the soul of old Japan.

Day 10 – Hiroshima & Miyajima

Travel by high-speed train to Hiroshima and visit the Peace Memorial Park and Museum; a poignant tribute to resilience and hope. Cross by ferry to Miyajima Island, home to the famed “floating” torii gate of Itsukushima Shrine and sacred deer that roam its peaceful forests.

Day 11 – Naoshima Island

Continue to Naoshima, Japan’s island of contemporary art. Wander between minimalist museums, installations, and seaside sculptures; visit the underground Chichu Art Museum, where natural light illuminates works by Monet and Turrell. Stay overnight at Benesse House, a striking blend of art, architecture, and landscape.
